The AI2200-506SA Standalone reader is used to read AT5110, AT5118, AT5125, AT5133, AT5510, and other identification tags. This unit contains a RF module, tag decoder, and power supply in a single module. Unlike the SmartPass readers the AI2200-506SA Standalone reader does not have an integrated antenna. It is used in applications where the antenna will be remote from the reader electronics. This AI2200-506SA Standalone reader can read rail car AEI tags at speeds of up to 60 mph. The AI2200-506SA Standalone reader can be ordered with either an RS-232 or RS-422 serial interface. This makes it very easy to interface to almost any computer. When the AI2200-506SA Standalone reader reads a tag it translates the 120 bits of data encoded in the tag into twenty six-bit alpha/numeric characters. This text string is terminated with a carriage return and a line feed character and then sent to the computer over the serial interface. With this simple interface, programs such as Windows's HyperTerminal can be used to view tag data and send commands to the SmartPass reader. Some of the commands the computer can send to the AI2200-506SA Standalone reader include: - append time and date to tag data - append input data to tag data (the unit has two dry contact inputs) - set time and date - modify baud rate - run diagnostics Unlike the SmartPass readers, the RF frequency cannot be adjusted via software commands. You must specify the RF frequency at the time of order. The input power is 110 VAC. 240 VAC and 28 VDC are available as an options. The RF output is via a SMA connector.
